Online Loss Prevention Seminars

Dental Risk Management: Back to the Basics & Into the Future

Learning Objectives:
Participation in this seminar will better enable participants to:
  • Understand the relationship between the patient’s current treatment and their medical and dental history;
  • Conduct discussions and obtain sufficient informed consent from patients;
  • List at least three components of an office emergency response plan;
  • Name three things to avoid when communicating with patients or potential patients via the internet; and
  • State the most critical strategy for reducing the risk of transmitting infection or disease to patients.

Course Description:
This seminar addresses topics to consider in your practice and as you prepare for the future. The informed consent process, documentation, maintenance of dental records, following-up on dental and medical histories, and customer service remain risk management staples whether your processes are electronic or on paper. Web sites, blogs, and electronic communications with patients present new and unique risks that can be addressed with traditional risk management techniques. We’ll talk about the infrequent but acute risks of unexpected outcomes, medical emergencies, and patients with behavioral problems. This seminar will explore some of the professional liability risks these issues may create and how best to manage those risks.
